
Steve Christou (born 23 January 1978) is a dedicated community leader and proud Australian who currently serves as a Councillor for the Granville Ward on Cumberland City Council in Western Sydney, New South Wales. He previously served as Mayor of Cumberland City Council from September 2019 to January 2022, where he was known for his hands-on approach and strong commitment to the local community.
Steve is a member of the Libertarian Party and is always guided by his deep-rooted values and belief in serving others. With a strong focus on family, community, and traditional values, Steve is known for standing up for what he believes is right, while always listening to the people he represents.

The son of Greek Cypriot refugees, Steve’s story is one of resilience and opportunity. His parents arrived in Australia in 1976 after the conflict in Cyprus, building a new life from the ground up. Born in Erskineville and raised in Penshurst, Steve grew up in a hardworking family. His mother a seamstress, and his father a factory worker. These humble beginnings instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep respect for everyday Australians.
Education played a central role in shaping Steve’s values. He attended local schools including St Mary’s Catholic School, Penshurst Public School, Hurstville Boys High, and Peakhurst High, where he developed a passion for community and a keen sense of fairness.
Family is at the heart of everything Steve does. He is a proud father to twin daughters, a loving stepfather to his eldest daughter, and a doting grandfather. He shares his life with his wife, Viki Pavleska Christou, and together they remain active members of their local community.
